2008 Headlines

  • New Name – The instructional programs at Winnetka will now all fall under the Logo and heading of WGC Academy.  In keeping with the innovation and quality of the programs the WGC Academy, headed by Matt Johnson, will move into a new era with a new logo and moniker.

  • The WGC Academy is expanding programming through the acquisition of new technology:  SAM Puttlab, GASP teaching software, Zelocity launch monitor, and Explanar.

  • The creation of the year round WGC Academy Training Studio.  This will allow staff to provide golf training indoors.  More information on this to come.

The WGC Academy professional staff prides itself in providing one of the best golf instructional programs in the Chicagoland area.

  • We offer 30 scheduled camps or clinics for players ages 5 and up and skill level from beginner to advanced.

  • In conjunction with the CDGA and the North Shore Special Recreation Association we offer programs for players with disabilities to learn rules, techniques, and etiquette of the game of golf.

All of our programs are taught by experienced PGA professionals.

PGA instruction:

The importance of these three letters, PGA, is the first step in looking for instructional assistance.  PGA stands for Professional Golfers Association, a storied organization of qualified leaders in the golf industry.  Our professional staff is:

  1. Motivated to help you learn

  2. Well-trained

  3. Experienced (70 years combined)

  4. Committed to excellence

Your improvement is our number one concern.  When you want quality instruction look for the three letters that are earned, not given, PGA professional.

The big question:

What do most golfers have in common?  They don’t take lessons!  A National Golf Foundation survey recently reported that only about 10% of all golfers take lessons.  Our staff would respond, “If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten.”  The big question is, “Are you happy with what you have always gotten?”
