Videos"Lottery times open to great weather" Winnetka, Illinois - Saturday, April 18. No frost on the pumpkin to start the season out and play commenced right on schedule for the season. Henry Michna, WGC Superintendent, has the greens double cut and rolled and the peg is in the ground and the ball is in the air. I witnessed the 7:54 group of Harold Nations, Gary Donahue, Joe Senko and Mike Fonda all find the fairway with their opening shots of the season. Harold had been working on behalf of the Men's Club to recruit new players prior to his time, but the lack of warm-up didn't seem to affect his first shot. I saw Steve McElroy warming up with a cup of coffee instead of hitting balls. Paul Van Zuiden must be taking his game seriously this season because he was practicing out of the practice bunker. Dan Strieff was casually rolling some balls on the putting green and gave me the nod that let me know he was good to go. Great to see everyone out to get the season started. Cortney C. Miller
